PeRsPeCtiVe
Things are going rather well, besides the fact minute by minute I never know how long I am going to have to feel well or how long I am going to have to feel crummy. But I can handle this. The warmer weather leaves me feeling less stiff and sore. It also helps when I have reached my limits as I am stuck in bed not moving for hours and I can look outside and see everything starting to green up and listen and watch the birds outside my windows.
Jason and I got some more bird seed the other day. He's been learning about that as well. We bought "big" bird food and "little" bird food. Hopefully this will keep the big birds away from the little birds. We will soon see. The big bird feeder needs a bit of sprucing up. I am hoping Jason will be able to paint it and make it a bit shinier.
Of course the list for sprucing things up has grown. But who's to say that it doesn't add a little charm to some things if they look a little worn. Problem is that most of our things are looking that way. =) I guess we are just charming! That's my thought and I am sticking to it.
I really don't want to be 'That' house.. the one that everyone cringes as they drive by. I think we might be getting closer to that... but I hope we can make some improvements this year to make where we live a little more appealing to the eye. We are doing what we can at any rate. I guess that is all that we can ask of ourselves.
In the meantime we are trying to live. I've got lots to say for sure. I have been rather occupied as of late. Which I am thoroughly enjoying. I must say that I didn't want to be writing right now. I was hoping to go yet another day with out posting. I over did it again.
Well, I stopped my actions before I couldn't get myself to bed on my own. So that is a good thing. But, I woke this morning to a migraine, after having taken lots of pain medication for my neck last night. Jason got me a migraine pill before going off to work. That helped. I woke again feeling rather well. Thrilled! I set about doing some things so I could have a clearer mind. Messy house makes messy mind.
At least it does for me. While picking up things about the house, I completely remembered a favor I had promised a friend. I felt so bad. I called her and left a message apologizing and hoping to redeem myself. Thank goodness I remembered! I could at least apologize.
I am listening to the television as I type. Knit & Crochet Today just came on PBS! This is the first time I have been sitting to watch TV when this show is on since I have learned the basics of knitting. I am so excited. The show today is featuring knitting and crochet mixed! How cool is that! I of course have to master the basic stitch in crochet... Ok so I am already confused by the pattern... I will someday be able to understand this.
The knitting has been great for me though. It is really helping. I get allot of anxiety sometimes. Having the needles in my hand gives me something tangible to do and to focus on. All I know how to do is pearl. I just learned that word today, just now! Hey, that is a start! I am learning something!
The knitting has also been great for me when I am not able to sleep, or when I don't have the computer and I have to sit still to let my body rest. My mind always seems to be running. Unless I am on pain medication. Then it is running but woozie. So the simple pearl stitch seems to work for me as well. While I dream of making socks, sweaters, and dresses out of yarn, I think it is going to be the basic blankets and scarves for a while from this girl.
You've gotta start somewhere. I am hoping to find some really great cotton yarn, that is soft and will hold itself well. But make a good stable blanket. If I get good enough at this I may even be able to make some things as gifts.
I am not going to share the project I am making. I think it is ugly. It is however a great learning project. I am using acrylic yarn, and it is camouflage colored! Lots of men are even doing this! How cool is that!
The birds outside are having a great day. We have a beautiful Cardinal Couple that lives near here, a Dove Couple, many Finch Couples and lots of Black colored birds. Oh, and a Blue Jay! I think they are all just beautiful! I never really cared much about birds before. I knew that people watched them for sure. I just was always to busy and to focused on my Mary Kay to appreciate watching the birds. I don't think that was bad at all, but just different. Really I would love to go back to that life. But I am also happy watching birds. I am having to learn to be happy where I am at. Appreciate what I have and be grateful for it. Believe me I am, even though it would seem as if I have to talk myself into it each day.
That is apart of moving forward I think.
Today, I am grateful for the fact I was able to clean the mirror in my bathroom and wipe off the counter as well. I got the dirty towels and washcloths put in the laundry and dumped the rest of the laundry downstairs too. I also sorted the laundry. That is what did me in. That is why I am now writing another post sitting in bed. Crawling around on the floor to sort everything into laundry piles is exhausting for my body.
I really did debate whether to do this or not. But Jason is so busy these days and it is his least favorite thing to do. Well, I don't know about least favorite. I truly think that all cleaning activities are his least favorite. He does do them but I don't think he does them with a sense of joy.
I thought to myself, if I do the laundry or do some laundry, that will be one thing that he won't have to do. I got all of the clothes in our bedroom put away. Our bedroom couch is all cleared off. It looks just great! So when he gets home he will notice I am sure. He likes a clean house, and appreciates it when he does not have to be the one doing it. I used to hire someone to do the housework. I really liked that. I could then focus more on Jason and my Mary Kay clients and team members. I never have been great at doing EVERYTHING. But I have been great at doing things I could focus on.
If I can focus on one thing, I truly believe I can be great at it. These days it is even harder to do that. It seems as what I now focus on is doing all that I can without doing to much. How frustrating.
But I do feel lucky that I can at least do things some days. Like the laundry. I am also going to be taking some online classes! I am super excited about this as well! YEA! I have been looking for some learning opportunities online! I have finally found some!
So I will be sharing those with you soon as well.
I have one thing that is pretty constant in my life no matter how I feel. I have passion. I have it for things, about things, through things, around things, with things. I think that is what keeps me going. I am grateful for my passion.
It sometimes will cloud my judgment, other times it clarifies it. It can be a hindrance as well as a help.
I had thought about making something in my craft room downstairs today. I was feeling so well. But my passion for doing something to show my appreciation for all of Jason's hard work won out. I am also hoping to finish the dishes. I need to unload the dishwasher, and hand wash a pile of dishes that have been waiting for someone to clean them for a week.
I also need to finish totaling up the information for taxes. But I can't think about that until this other stuff is done. I think I made the right decision to not finish a craft project. But it is something I hope to be able to do sometime as well.
My garden... well, I will have some photos to show you soon as well. I can't wait. Jason has just been wonderful! I am very fortunate. I know that!
I hope you are fortunate too.
Blessings,

EgGs... & SeRviCe DoG NeWs...
Things while difficult in some areas are better in others. Luka and I attended an event last night. Jason dropped us off and our very prego friend L dropped us off at home. She was there also making beautiful things with me.
We made Eggs! Yep! Eggs. We did not cook them they in fact are still RAW! Loving that part! We dyed them. Pysknky Style! We had our event at this great place! Check it out! It was fun. I was completely worn out afterward, and today I am definitely medicated! But I got to do something creative with friends, which was totally worth it.
They are a wax relief... you paint the wax on with this little device called a Kistky they have three sizes of them and make fancy electric ones.....
See how busy everyone is.. Thanks to Gina for taking some great pictures for me!
So this is the design I did.. what is black on my egg is soon to be white and what is white is soon to be black.. The little tan square is bees wax.. You dip your Kistky in the bees wax after holding in in the flame. Scoop up the wax and it melts on in a line to your egg.. You can also see my practice lines on the plate.
Yep, I copied it.. Well, not quite. I did my own version... But it is similar..
You melt the wax off after you have dipped the egg in the dye. I didn't get a shot of us doing that, but there were so many tempting colors to choose from. I couldn't think.. So I just chose black.
My friend L's egg... isn't it cute? Luka kept wanting an egg too, but he finally was resigned to just watch and wait for us to finish! He was quite the good sport and received rave reviews on upon our exit! Gosh, as I type this I am watching PBS again of course.. I am now watching a show that is featuring EGGS.. How cool is that?
Here is a link to a PDF version of Burt Wolfe's Show.. It features these eggs!
My friend W's Egg.. I think this one is inspired!
G's egg! She is so gifted!
My egg finished.
This is the other egg I made.... I didn't want to stare at another picture and "copy" but I couldn't think of what to make either.. so it is a scribble egg! Not a scrambled on.. Ha Ha!! Ok, I know my humor is terrible..
The eggs are all still RAW.. we are supposed to just turn them occasionally and they will dry out! How crazy is that! I am so excited! ( Oh, and you pray they don't crack, because then your whole house will stink REAL BAD!)
But they are fun!
If you'd like to make this style of eggs go to.. The Ukrainian Gift Shop
These eggs are amazing!
So this is what I really want you to take a minute and check out..
One of my friends called me today! He shared with me a video that he saw featured on CNN. Since he knows I am interested in things to do with people that have Service Dogs, he shared this with me.
This is another Service Dog video this was just featured on CNN.. about fighting for rights.. Thanks to Kevin Stone and his Service Dog Mambo as well as Luis Carlos Mantovan and his Service Dog Tuesday for fighting for the rights of Veterans to have them covered by insurance!
I can surely say I am better off for having Luka in my life. I take less medications, I am more active than I previously was with out him. I am also happier and I also look forward to more things in general. Even if I am still not out and about like I was before my accident, after having him I am having a significantly better quality of life. I of course think they should be covered by all insurance companies.. but I am not asking for a miracle.. These veterans DESERVE to have the best quality of life they can have. They have fought for our freedom! Treat them well!
By the way, this friend is preparing to go to Afghanistan to support the effort there. He gets orders to leave soon.
Blessings and Thanks For All That You Do!

sTill HeRe!
I mean seriously, have all of these injections just decided to wear out now or is the pain some how connected. Is my bed really that bad... ( well yes, it is..) I do know the answer to that one.
We have a better mattress set. It is lots smaller. It is for our guests to sleep on... Jason being he is a tall guy really does not like sleeping on little beds. I can understand that for sure. No one wants to feel like they are going to be shoved off. Or roll over in their sleep and fall off.
Yikes that would be really bad.
Maybe if we would get those baby bars then we couldn't fall off and he would be more willing to squish together in the little bed. Oh, the memories!! ( not saying more than that )
Well, it is something to check out.
I am making a Needs/Wants/Dreams List.
I used to do that regularly with my Mary Kay. I guess it would be something to start doing for my general regular life as well. Jason really doesn't want to get involved in that type of stuff. He just gets more and more depressed to talk about all of those things. (as realistically not many of them will come to pass)
I am the dreamer though. If they never happen, I will at least have had a tremendously fun time thinking about them, planning for things gives me something to do as I lay here. Besides the thought of decorating or designing really does sound fun to me. So I think I will do some dreaming!
I used to decorate a museum for Christmas for years! I loved it. It is more fun to do with others, and I did have help occasionally, but more often than not I had to do some arm twisting, as Jason's favorite thing to do was and is not decorating. Now I know you find that hard to believe! Really truly you do! But he's a simple guy. Thank goodness he loves me lots and showed up to help when asked.
So today I am going to be gathering my list together, at least the beginning of it. I don't seem to be able to remember everything at one time, so I will just keep adding as time passes!
I have also been working on another resume for someone I know. I hope it helps her get a great new job! The other resume that I made got rave reviews from the University the guy applied to. He did not get that job, he got another, but he did get a wonderful letter back about how they really liked his resume! That made me feel great! He also got a really well paying job! So that is fun too!
Now I am for sure no resume expert. I just know enough to be dangerous. But it gives me something I can do to give back to others. That makes me feel the best. By no means can I crank these things out. But I can do them every so often. I really need to be able to focus. I have difficulty with that. I don't mean to believe that it is impossible. But there are other things I have to focus in my day to day doings that over rides detailed focus on the computer. Which is why all most all of my posts on my blog are the first draft of my thoughts. To make each post perfect, well... I would never get anything written.
While watching the evening news tonight. I was watching the ABC Newscast tonight. I learned about some side effects of a prescription medication. It caught my attention. I have been debating this medication. I had almost started it. I am not that old. I think I will keep trying the old fashioned way for a while. Vitamins and Minerals.... Sad thing is.. the prescriptions are usually less of an out of pocket expense due to insurance. The Calcium, Vitamin D, Magnesium, etc are more expensive... At least in the quantities and from the companies I am comfortable taking them from. I guess with anything you will pay for it one way or another.
I personally would just rather not add any additional pain to my life.
Have I mentioned I hate medications! HATE THEM! But I am needing them lately. Oie Ve... I probably could accomplish more with being on them all of the time. Of course that is until I am needing to get a new liver.
My Pain Management Dr. Agrees. Of that I am appreciative. He said he would rather I rest than take pills to keep on keeping on. I of course am no good on pain medications anyway. I wouldn't dare get behind the wheel of a car. Oh my! Not a good choice.
I just wish my tummy would cooperate. I've recently had some extreme tummy issues... the medications are not agreeing with me at all. So back to the Dr. I go. I sure hope I get approved for more injections. My back could sure use a break from laying on it for days!
I have kept trying to get up, but it is not working. Good thing Jason's been here! That has been lovely today! I took my bath, another thing I had not been able to do. Not to good to do that on your own... seeing as how there is nothing to grab on your way to the floor but air!
For some reason Luka hates the bathroom. He will come into it finally so that is a good step. I do not feel like adding any potential trauma to his psyche. I am not sure why he does not like them. Having not raised Luka from a pup, well there is allot that we don't know about each other.
I am just glad these days he will come in if I call him. I don't need to have a traumatic incident in the bathroom. ( Actually I don't need to have one of those ANYWHERE!) I saw this post and it got my imagination going. It is from a blog that I follow. She has much greater problems than I have. And she deals with much more pain than I do I am sure. Her name isn't Grace but it should be.
I think we need to start thinking outside of the box about what will make my world a little easier to negotiate. Unfortunately the things that may do that may not be pretty or cheap. Of course! But a little ingenuity can go a long way! Just thinking up ideas will give me some pleasure. I have already found some more ideas!
Four Ideas Here..
And some good points here...
I love Do-It-Yourself projects! Of course these day's I am not usually the one doing it myself. That would be Jason! With all of his extra jobs teaching in addition to firefighting.. well he is also mister house cleaner (not a career option), chief cook and bottle washer - (he does not like this either)... He is also Mr. Fix-it -whether it be car- plumbing- house- electrical...
Bless my hubby's heart! He is amazing!!
I had been able to do the dishes at least or maybe a load of laundry here and there.. before December I was even sewing a bit. I really enjoyed that. Which reminds me I need to get my step by step sewing project loaded up. ( I took pictures!) I had hopes of at least being able to sew. Hopefully I'll be able to do that again here at some point.
It is not a finished piece but late last year I was able to get more of it done. So we will have to see how it turns out. I can't wait to be able to sit for a bit and get some more finished!
Hope you are creating something in your life right now!
Blessings,
Pink Doberman
Prayers please for the Dr.s to sign off on some more pain relief procedures.

SuRpRiSe!*!*!
So each day goes on regardless if you are ready to go or not. If you are not then you just miss the day, never to get it back.
I wish you could start out your days with your exact amount in hand. Choosing to spend them as you wished.
Days that are sufferable you could just take a pass on them knowing that you were going to choose to spend your day token on a day that would produce better results.
In effect that is what I do I guess. Except for the token part and the it not counting when you can’t participate.
I’ve been picking and choosing what to do and what not to do. It is my usual routine since the accident. I used to do everything, cram it all in! It was lovely!
These days, I do my best to figure out what is the most important, what has to be finished, or what needs to be started, so that I can get it finished.
I start on things much earlier than I normally would have. What used to take me an hour may now take me 3-5. Some things, like getting ready, can take as little as 40-50 minutes… or as long as a couple of hours if it is a bath/shower day.
I’ve been lucky to have been able to go to PT regularly for the past six plus months. I am needing to take a break again to recover from some extra medical bills. So we won’t be spending the gas on driving the additional 70 miles each day.
Once things are caught up, I plan to get right back at it. It works out I suppose, with the weather and roads being crappy anyway, it isn’t the best time for me to be out and about.
Luka’s feet have been a disaster! One is still completely ripped open, and the other still has a larger than I’d like sore. So until those things are healed up as well, he won’t be available for accompanying me either.
I don’t even walk out to get the mail. I just patiently wait for Jason to get it when ever he would be coming home. But the fun thing is, when a box comes too, they bring it all up to my door! So I get to open it sooner! THANK GOODNESS for Christmas presents and Delivery Boxes!! Woot!
On another note: I did set myself up to have some projects to finish during this time. Winter being here I go out less anyway since the accident. The weather changes seem to be more significant and mess me up more too. I am medicated yet again. Gotta love that! I can’t wait for this to end!
I did finish part of a project that I’ve been working on. I finished part of it enough to get it in the mail to the intended recipient. I got it wrapped up super cute too! I finished it late on Friday night. It had to be in the post by 10:30 the following morning.
I coordinated with Jason that on his way home he’d need to stop and get the list of groceries I’d texted him. Then he couldn’t dilly dally because I needed him home to finish things up for me. I knew it would be out of my hands and I was so so right!
I had gotten all of the mail that I had yet to get to the post ready. Bills, and a few packages! I wish I’d taken pictures of another project that I did for my niece but. Hey. I am not perfect!
Anyway the gift of the moment, was done, I had found an appropriate sized box for it. It could be the one it came in… (misleading or leading hint)
Misleading hint…. It doesn’t contain what they box says that it does…
It was addressed and ready to go except for some stuffing and the tape.
ONE THING… Jason had taken the camera with him to work.. I couldn’t get a shot of it. He’d have to arrive home in time to do it in the morning.
He came in to wake me up for clarification on my instructions… I muttered and mumbled what I needed done. He laid with me for a bit helped me to take some medication and with that I was back out again.
He took pictures! He took fabulously glorious pictures of my special gift! Look what he did! These are so much better than I could have ever done! Thanks Honey!
Jason even fluffed my ribbon as instructed before taking the shots! Wow, he did the most excellent job! To my credit, I did make what is inside… and I did creatively wrap the gift. But WoW oh WoW did he get some good pictures of it!
I cannot share with you who gets this at least not yet! They have yet to receive it and it would totally blow the surprise if I leaked it here!
But if by chance you should get a box from me in the mail, well, I suggest that you open it!
You will definitely need to open it before the Christmas Holiday springs into action! Surprise!!
Excited and Blessed,
Pink Doberman!

PrAyErS…
I have started to write multiple times. I have been told multiple times that I haven’t written for a while. I have been weighing several options.
I’ve mentioned before that I enjoy change. I am really thinking of how to evolve this site. We’ve also been struggling here through an illness. A couple of the foster dogs arrived at our home healthy, then a day or so later they were no longer healthy. The Flintstones the pair named Fred and Wilma ended up having Kennel Cough. They are doing fine now healed up and have found their forever home… BUT… =(!
Our Ozzer got it. Our old man has been very sick, still is. He’s still pulling for a recovery, he hasn’t given up. But oh my has this been a stressor for us.
My body is no longer capable of doing what he needs done. I’ve gotten more sore than I’ve been in a while. I’ve been getting better, and I am now going backwards. I’ve been in bed again all week. This is not the way I’ve planned for my week to go.
Jason has started taking a primary role now in taking care of Ozzie. Previous to this he was doing the secondary stuff. But since my body feels like it’s been beat to hell, he is taking care of the medication delivery, the bathroom breaks, the food and water consumption.
Which is good as Ozzie needs more help than I can physically handle giving at this point. We are sure hoping our old dog can pull through this one. Thank goodness he is so stubborn. His kennel cough turned into pneumonia, his kidney’s started having issues… so we are holding out hope that the meds can help him!
Ozzie lives for the time that Jason cuddles up with him. He is the one who really makes Ozzie’s world go around. I am just a consolation prize anyway.
To top it off, we were paying so much attention to the Flintstones and Ozzie, that I ignored Luka’s paws. OMG! He really reacted to the latest food adventure and was going after his paws. We’ll he sure did a number on one of them.
He can’t go out with me until he is healed up. He is limping everywhere and we are keeping it dressed with Grape goo that the vet gave us. Poor Luka! At least his isn’t life threatening.
Jason’s been getting a little stressed out, we both really have, no sleep due to Ozzie’s constant coughing, Luka’s licking and unhappiness with the cone that we’ve stuck on his head. He keeps waking us both up with his discomfort. We now understand what new parents are going through. Which has reminded us of why we don’t have a tiny baby in our house!
We could sure use some prayers. Ozzie has been wearing his little fleece coat and a prayer shawl I received earlier this year. He sure could use some prayers! Thanks to those of you who have already been praying for him.
The snow has been another “bonus” this week. We stayed home due to it, he had been supposed to work out of town, we were scheduled to leave and everything, but with the forecast for immense amounts of snow, meaning bad roads, well, he canceled the job. Didn’t want to take me out on the roads. I am frustrated by this as much as I am grateful.
I was really looking forward to a change of scenery. With the snow, I won’t be going out much. I guess, the snow isn’t actually the preventer. The ice that the snow becomes is the true criminal in my mind.
Thank goodness for our neighbor’s snow blower this year! D & R you both rock! You saved Jason’s back!
I have intended to be adding more pictures. In fact, I have been thinking of lots of things. I really like some of the things that Jason has been doing with the camera. I have yet to put my identity on here. Probably for the most part anyone who is reading this knows me, but then again the hesitation is that there are those that don’t. So I am still thinking about it I guess.
Another blog I follow had a gal with an issue similar but not the same. Her reasons were different, but being they were different, they still required thought on her part.
I have also been trying to think of ways to add extra income to our lives. The classes that Jason teaches are by no means regular. The income from them is something that we need to have on a more regular basis. So taking pictures might just be the answer. He enjoys it and he appears by the evidence so far to be great at it! Not that we expect to make piles of money. Heck at this point we’d settle for volunteers willing to be practiced on. If people felt he’d done a great job they could “donate” to our camera fund.
We are wanting to do something different with the photography. I think the pictures we are already taking are going to show that. He loves taking still pictures. One thing he also may decide to do besides portraits is taking pictures of items people would like to sell on Craigslist or on Ebay. At this point that is just a thought. He is working on that. I don’t know that we will be headed out to do wedding photo’s or anything. But pictures that capture a persons essence are really what he is has started to do. We’ll see. Maybe they were just a fluke. But he really has come up with some really great shots!
Here is the Click Clack Couch/Bed we will be selling!
Want it?
Size 12 I think..
I can’t wait to see what he does! Maybe if you are reading this you will let him “practice” on you.
Other than that, I have gotten my office all spruced up. I did take pictures, thankfully. As it is now quite messed up with a Christmas project I am working on. I sure hope I can get it done. I had a good start on it and it seems to have skidded to a screeching halt since the effects of taking care of Ozzie and the storm fronts that have washed over the area have taken effect.
Here is a project in progress, it is the first quilt I ever started. I still have yet to finish it, but I am now closer than ever!
He has the camera on a stand so I can hold it with out dropping it! Woot!
Jason’s next Tee Shirt Quilt.
Stay tuned for more progress on this one at a later date. This is not the project for Christmas, but I did need the left over tee shirt fabric for the Christmas project. I am recycling and I am thrifty!
I’ve been taking pictures of this as well so I hope to be posting those. But I can’t until I get my project finished and the gift has been received. So for sure you will see my craft pictures.
A quick picture of my organized and clean craft room, it has taken me months to get it in order. I just work at it a little at a time in between resting. I do feel proud that I got it finished!
Thank you Jason for making me such a lovely place to do things in! It is my goal to get a better chair to work in, but a little at a time I do just fine.
I didn’t take any pictures of the catastrophe it started out to be, suffice it to say it was horrible!
Jason’s already been itching to read this menagerie. I feel bad for not posting earlier. I was either too tired from having a really productive day, or too miserable to write lately. Today things fell into place once again!
I feel good that I wrote! Maybe the anxiety I’ve been feeling will dissipate. The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson just popped on! So I will bid the night ado.
I just want to say, that on Christmas Day I am looking forward to attending the opening of the movie Nine! Not so sure Jason feels the same way, but at least he will have a movie filled with gorgeous legs to watch for a couple of hours. I am sure he will be able to handle that!
Well I am off to wash my face then off to never never land with dreams of sugar plums and a healthy crew of boys when I wake up in the morning!
Peace and Blessings!
